Dr.Schneider is a board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist serving patients in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment procedures, Dr. Schneider offers individual gastroenterology consultation appointments to help patients understand their health issues and provides them with the options available to help them relieve symptoms and achieve optimal health.
Dr. Schneider has a strong passion for patient care and enjoys dealing with complex medical issues to bring his patients back to health. He likes to spend as much time as needed to fully and accurately understand and diagnose the patient’s health issues and concerns.
On top of managing general gastroenterology needs, Dr. Schneider also specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and celiac sprue, and performs gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.
Professional and Academic Background
Dr. Schneider completed a Science degree with a Major in Zoology and a Minor in Microbiology and went on to earn a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of Ottawa. In 2010, he went on to complete a year of physicians training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and returned to Canada to specialize in digestive and liver diseases. He completed his medical residency in internal medicine at the University of Calgary and then gastroenterology at the University of Montreal.
Dr. Schneider was Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Manitoba, where he made numerous significant contributions to research, which include (notably) performing Manitoba’s first faecal transplant.
Dr. Schneider is the co-founder of two Melbourne gastroenterology clinics, Gastro X and Gasto IQ.
In his free time, Dr. Christopher Schneider likes to ride his dirt bike, go to the beach and is looking into getting a fishing boat. He lives in Melbourne with his wife and three kids.
